Surf
Surfing in Canoa is awesome!
The sandy bottom beach break, the waves around 3-6 feet, and the super friendly vibe make Canoa’s warm waters perfect for learning.

Yoga
While you will have a load of fun practicing and learning Surf & SUP, your body will be getting quite the workout. Arms, shoulders, abs, legs, every part of your body will be working. The best part of your SUP & surfing is that you’ll be so distracted by the scenery, the water, the board and everything else that goes on that you may not even notice you are working out until after. Ok, you will a little bit, but you get the point. If it’s fun and engaging it’s easier to work harder without noticing it. Yoga will be your best friend when it comes to sore muscles and busy minds.
Ideally, being by the beach and having fun will de-stress you enough but just in case, we are bringing yoga to the mix.
Depending on what you are looking for, we will be offering two different classes:
Hatha/Restorative yoga to unwind, release tension in the body, help you sleep better, think clearer, & breathe deeper.
To counter balance, the Vinyasa yoga sessions will help you energize, strengthen, breathe better, breathe easier, feel calmer and move!

S.U.P.
You will enjoy Stand Up Paddleboarding up the river, learn to get out past the waves, take waves (yes, surf with a paddle!) and even venture over to the beautiful Canoa caves. You will be able to maximize your exposure to different settings from relaxing to thrilling (rivers, open ocean, surf), while having lots of fun and enjoying being outdoors.

Food
Home prepared meals will be offered at our accommodations and we will also visit local restaurants. You will have a wide variety of options. Fresh fruits, veggies, healthy grains, fish and traditional Ecuadorian meals will be some of them. Vegetarian meals are also available.

Accommodations
Double occupancy in brand new private villas on the beach called Rio Mar. Each include two beds, a private bathroom and deck with a hammock. Nearby is the pool and just a short sandy walk away is the beach. To enjoy quiet or fun times there is also a shared kitchen, a common eating area and a beautiful hang out area with a lookout to the beach. Single occupancy is available at a surcharge of $250 for the week.

Andrea Coronado Surf Instructor & Spanish Teacher

Andrea is a local Ecuadorian that moved to Canoa and started surfing around 7 years ago. She has won many surf contests but now choses to focus her surfing in a more spiritual way. Andrea balances her surfing with a regular yoga practice and loves similarities of yoga and surfing like PATIENCE, EQUILIBRIUM, AGILITY, POWER, and FLEXIBILITY. She spends her time teaching surf lessons, spanish classes, and running a beautiful restaurant with her family in Canoa called Cafe Flor.

Paluna Santamaria Yoga & Pilates instructor

Paluna is Argentinian but was raised in Mexico. Coming from a family where her father devoted half of his life to the practice of yoga, she was introduced to the discipline at the age of 5. She later obtained a Bachelor in Arts specializing in dance and spent a few years performing. Always curious and fascinated by the human body, she has practised a wide variety of sports and martial arts as well as joining a swimming team for three consecutive years. Although, she never thought she’d end up working as an instructor, she took a Pilates certification in 2004 and hasn’t stopped since.
Now certified as a Personal Trainer with specialties in pre/post natal, post rehab, kettlebell training and yoga she dedicates her life entirely to teaching. Completely convinced of the healing qualities of movement not only on a physical, but an emotional level. She enjoys helping participants find that discipline that makes them smile and feel happy to the bone. “If you enjoy it, you’ll stick to it” Paluna says.
