Well it’s official- summer is over here in Toronto. We had a pretty good one, I’d say. I made lots of new friends on the water and my hair is still pretty blond from all the sun! With all the wrap-up of saying good bye till next summer- I realize (once again) that I am a really lucky lady to work promoting a new sport that attracts such cool people. And it gets even better! I get to invite everyone (actually just the ladies) to come to Ecuador this winter for Surf Camp!
That’s right… we get to be healthy, happy and active with other awesome ladies that love yoga and want to learn more about surfing and SUP’n in the coolest place ever (I think at least) Canoa, Ecuador! This camp is for beginner to intermediate level ladies of all 3 components to our camp; Yoga, Surf, & SUP. I’m really looking forward to being part of such a great group of women that have come together to make this happen for you all. We have tried our hardest to keep the costs down compared to most of the other week long camps but not cut on quality! Check the page!

I’ve been loving the amount of people that are trying SUP & excited that people love it and keep coming back for PaddleFlow classes. This summer we’ve added to our regular crew of paddlers by partnering up with Lululemon and joining their affiliate program. Lululemon, the good clothing company they are, let’s their staff go to yoga classes at affiliate studios and the company pays for it. Now, the staff at stores in Toronto can come out for SUPYoga on our PaddleFlow classes from June till Oct each year as part of their employee benefits- nice work Lulu! Here are pics of some of the staff having fun while not at work.

We used the inflatable ISUP boards a lot this past winter in Ecuador. And I mean we really, really put them to the test. First of all, they were awesome because we could fly with them! Two of us with 4 boards, just folded up in our luggage, wow- how nice. When we got to Ecuador, we quickly got them blown up and in the water. We would take them on excursions up unknown rivers, do some yoga, and drag them through some tight spots, exploring as we go. They went on tours to the caves, up and down the Ecuadorian coast, being moved by whatever transportation was around. We hauled them around with bikes and could just walk them on of our heads- they are quite light. We lent them out to lots of the local surfers so they could catch a wave standing up, on what is still a new (and mostly inaccessible) kind of board there. We found them to be great teaching boards people because they are even nicer to fall on, being bouncy and fun. Overall they held up remarkably well compared to a regular hard board. These inflatable ISUP boards only take a couple of minutes to inflate & even offer a better workout then hard boards. What is not to love?! Just like I think everyone should try paddleboarding, SUP’n on an inflatable is a different but worthy experience. Come try them with us or check the ISUP boards out at www.c4waterman.com
We cannot live without the healthy water on our planet and sharks are an important regulator of the oceans. We need to stop the industry that is killing them. Let’s give the “men in grey suits” (as some surfers call them) some respect and let them be. Please watch this awesome documentary on why we need to stop the fear and finning of sharks. Here it is, for free, live streaming: SHARKWATER DOCUMENTARY please pass it along and help save our oceans.
